Controlling High Blood Pressure

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Do you have problems controlling high blood pressure?

Maybe adding a herbal supplement to your normal blood pressure strategy will provide the answer?

In truth, I'm not sure that taking only a herbal supplement is enough for most blood pressure sufferers - I don't think that the reduction in blood pressure readings will be sufficient.

But adding a natural blood pressure supplement to what you normally take can make a huge difference.

The link at the top right of this post - marked Alistrol - Lower Blood Pressure Naturally - takes you to the home page for Alistrol - a combined herbal blood pressure product that I've tried personally. It worked well for me and brought my systolic blood pressure readings down by about ten points. That was enough to get me into normal range and avoid the need for any increase or change in my normal medications.

You should consider giving it a try.

It certainly worked for me.

Natural Blood Pressure Treatments

Saturday, January 10, 2009

I'm asked all the time if there are better ways to lower high blood pressure than using conventional medications.

I think you need to keep a degree of perspective here - many people do need to take drugs to lower their blood pressure - and would not be safe if they didn't. But there are other approaches you can take.

Natural methods of blood pressure control are now well researched and many of them have been shown to make a big difference to peoples lives. I've known many patients who have been able to reduce the dose of medications they take after using more natural methods - and some have been able to stop their drugs all together.

You should always try these things under the guidance of a doctor of course - and with the help of a blood pressure monitor - but there are real improvements to be had pretty easily for most of us.

As many of you reading this will know - I too have high blood pressure. I used natural treatment methods to reduce my blood pressure by about twenty points and I halved the number of tablets I took each day - and feel a lot, lot better as a result.

Treat high blood pressure with medication

I'm sure you know by now - and you certainly will if you have browsed around this site - that there are lots of ways to treat high blood pressure.

Many people are able to achieve their blood pressure goals by simply changing their diet or by altering their lifestyle.

Salt reduction certainly helps - you'll be horrified at how easy it is for salt to sneak its way into your diet and play havoc with your blood pressure. If you feel up to it then here's a way to test it out: go all out for it and take a diet consisting only of fruit and low fat yogurt for up to a week. You can have as much fruit as you want and as much yogurt as you want - and take your normal fluid intake. In effect you'll be having a diet with almost no fat and almost no salt. I did it and the results were remarkable. My blood pressure levels came down by more than ten points systolic when I checked on my BP monitor.

Weight loss is also now proven as a method to treat high blood pressure. You can expect a ten kilogram weight loss to lower your blood pressure readings by ten on the scale.

But for many of us - medication is still needed to treat high blood pressure and with that comes all the side effects and problems that we are all too familiar with.

Check out the links on this site for lots more about medications for hypertension.
